Investigation of the oral English courses in the teachers colleges and normal schools of the United States

The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis. "Leading educators have centered their interest for some time upon a detailed study of curriculum. These people, responsible for curriculum revision, have endeavored to adapt the courses in all departments of the teachers' colleges to the actual needs of the teachers in the public schools. This is the practical, the effective way. The function of the teachers' college is to train the teacher for her work in the elementary or secondary school. Therefore, close correlation between the needs of the teacher and the subjects offered by the college must be observed."
