[The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis] Advertising history starts in the year 1000 B.C., when a slave owner advertised for the return of a runaway slave; yet, modern advertising starts about 50 years ago. Advertising on a large scale, therefore, has not been in existence very long, and most of its development has come in the last 25 years. This is mentioned to explain the very recent introduction of advertising into the curriculum of the secondary school.
