The purpose of this investigation was to discover by the analysis of elementary language textbooks: (1) What content is being taught in grades III, IV, and VI; (2) What content is being emphasized most judging from the distribution and number of practices provided; and (3) what the authors agree are the most important topics, devices, and techniques, judged by overlapping of material in the different series of texts.
